i'm having some trouble receiving email.
our domain name is hosted somewhere else. they are forwarding mx lookups to our email server address.
i don't know if i explained this right. if you do a nslookup for the domain, it points to the hosts address. if you do a nslookup and set querytype=mx, it points to our domain.
the problem is that some but not all email is returned back to the sender with the error "recipient unknown". is it possible that the mx record is not properly configured by the host, that they are intercepting some of the emails and since the user is not at their site, it is returned undeliverable?
the reason i suspect the forwarding host is that our email works fine for the other domain it has pointing directly to our address. also the returned undeliverable emails do not have any information pertaining to our site, where sometimes you'll see the name of the company and server.
any other ideas, thanks in advance.
