System is MICS v4.x with NAM voicemail.

have several users who forward calls (no answer and busy) to an assistant.
one particular user who is using this set up is having callers go to the general delivery mailbox instead of his assistants mailbox.
other users using the setup work ok. they send calls to different assistants.
i checked the programming on both his set (3808) and his assistants set (3802).
his is programmed to forward after 4 rings to 3802.
hers is set to forward to voicemail system (3848) after 4 rings.
her mailbox is initialized.
i also tried deleting and rebuiling (& initializing) her mailbox.
calls to his ext (3808) still forward to general mailbox after ringing her set 4 times.
if i call her set directly, it goes to her voicemail correctly.
this is happening on internal calls and target line calls (d.i.d. lines on pri).

any assistance would be appreciated!

thanks,

todd

thanks for the reply, jsaad.

i just tried setting up a mailbox on 3808, recorded a name and set the password.
now when i call and it forwards through 3802 and then to voicemail i get put into the mailbox of 3808 instead of 3802.
even though 3808 is forwarded to 3802 (not the vm ext 3848).
i need his calls that go to voicemail to go into the mailbox of 3802.
do i need to maybe use a different cos instead of 1?

I'm pretty sure calls will always revert back to the original extension's voicemail, not the destination extension. not sure of a work-around, if there is one.

True

Work around is forward set to vmail (F984) instead of another set then change your vmail greeting "for immediate assistance please press *3802".
If you forward to the same set always then setup Target Attendant under 3808 to be that of 3802, now have the greeting state to press 0 instead of *3802.

thanks guys!

that actually makes sense, but apparently it used to work like i described before.
we recently replaced the nam that had died with this one that is in place now.
so, now they want it to work like that again but i suppose that was a different software release (on the nam)that "enabled" it to send callers to a different voicemail box.
i wonder, could i set up a mailbox for 3808 that alerted 3802 when there are messages instead of alerting 3808?

todd

Remove the mailbox for 3808.
Add 3808 as an alternate extension for mailbox 3802.

When a call arrives at voicemail, the voicemail determines the original destination for the call and then looks for a match in the extension or alternate extension of the mailbox.
If it can't find a match, the call gets deposited into the GDM.

HTH!

Thanks for the reply, SupportDude.

Will this send the messages into the 3802 mailbox or will the assistant have to log into a separate mailbox to retrieve the messages?

Todd

supportdude has it right just add his extension as the alt ext to her mailbox. this way anything comming from his or her phone will go into her mailbox. she will only be checking 1 mailbox.

All set now!
I set up the Alt1 ext in mailbox 3802 to be 3808.
Now the calls that come through ext 3808 are left in mailbox 3802.
Perfect!
Thanks to everyone for helping this avaya guy learn nortel!
