Hi,
I am crosss posting this betwen 2 forums I have found on tek-tips because I can't figure out what the difference between the 2 forums are.....

Microsoft: Visual C++
C++: Microsoft

What kind of question would I pose in the one forum that I wouldn't be posing in the other?

Just wondering.

I would just pick the forum with the highest number of members and post my question in it. I am not aware of a Microsoft C++ compiler, other than Visual C++. I guess the original idea was: General C++ language questions, made by members with a Microsoft IDE, go here, where as questions that correspond to the "Visual" (MFC) part of the C++ language go into the Microsoft Visual C++ forum.

I agree the distinction is not clear. I would prefer if Visual C++ was for Visual C++ MFC and Microsoft C++ was for C++ programming, primarily using Microsoft Visual C++, but not MFC.

Just as there is a separate forum for ATL, I would prefer to see MFC in one place.

Was the original C++ in DOS base? and then came VC++? Maybe that's why there are two?
