How do I write a growth formula that I can copy across 12 months where some of the numbers are negative and some are positive? For example:

2005: (202)
2004: (49)

My current formula is giving me 312% growth, when the percentage should be negative because we lost more than the prior year. I want to be able to use a formula that will work and recognize that a greater negative number is a decrease, but will also work when there is one negative and one positive.

Hi,

A percent is relative to a base value.

What is the base value in your pwcent calculation?

Please post the formula that you are trying to use.
