I'm trying to set up a form for a sheet of labels. On the 1st line I want a fixed text field, a text entry control and another fixed text field. On the 2nd line I just want a text entry control. When I start to type in the text entry field, the right-hand fixed text field moves over. I've tried setting each cell in a table, but then the tabbing goes crazy - it skips to the print label in the next column, rather than to the entry field on the 2nd line.
I've also played, unsuccessfully, with inserting the entry field in a frame. But then things really go nuts. I'm using MS Word 2000 and Windows 2000 SP4. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't think I can add an attachment here, but I will gladly send the offending form directly to anyone interested.

Thanks. -- Ham Rutledge

For the purposes of the following example,
{cT} = Center Tab set
{rT} = Right Tab set

EXAMPLE OF LABEL'S FIRST LINE:

TextAtLeftMargin {cT}FormField {rT}TextAtRightMargin

I would:
Set tabs where needed.
Use CTRL+Tab for tabs within a table cell.
Set the maximum length in the Form Field's properties to a number that would keep User Input from expanding the field past the Right Tab set and messing up the label format.

Hope this helps.

Yes - this helps quite a bit. The right-hand field still still shifts as I enter data into the text control, but it seems to pop back when I tab to the next field. This may not be exactly what you had in mind, but this is just fine for this application. Thanks. -- Ham Rutledge
