I have a text formatted field that reads 10.1 I need to chart the results of the query but not able to because it recognizes the 10.1 as text. How can I format this box to read 10.1 as a number so I can chart it?

I guess your data is in a Table
1. Open the Table in Design view
2. Find the field which is "Text"
3. Click in the box and find Number (Click It)
4. Press "F6" key
5. In the "Field size" Pick "Single"
6. Click "File" menu
7. Click "Save"

That's it

DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.

The 10.1 field is a result of a query using two or three fields to give me a text oriented query field. the field does not exist in the table only in the query itself. Thanks for your response.

Place this in your query, yourfield1:CDbl([yourfield])

This will convert your text field to a double.

I tried the CDbl function it appears that the conversion has taken place in the query, however, I still get an error when I attempt to put the data into a chart summing the data. This is a real head scratcher.

What is the the error you are getting? I tried this using Access97 chart wizard and it worked.

I get a datatype mismatch in the criteria area.
