For the life of me I cannot find a way to format a RW DVD in the Disk Drive. (E:\)

Nero doesn't want to format withour picking a catagory or tast which doesn't suite my particular need.

I need a formted DVD for SyncBack backup program.

Any ideas . . . Rick

Rickinrsm,

While I have not formatted any DVD's the convention should be similar to that for CD's.

Formatting was never part of Adaptec/Roxio's CD Creator. It was a separate applet called CD Direct. This allowed for formatting and subsequent reading of this media.

I would assume that DVD's & Nero would handle it in a similar manner.

UDF is the file format used and you also have to have the reader(XP is native).

The Nero applet is INCD, it will format & read CD's & DVD's.

Hope This Helps

A word of warning.
Some of these programs like InCD and DirectCD create disk that are not accessible by other units. So if I were you I would create one and check to see if other machines can use the disk and access the information on it.

I used INCd for a while but found this problem when I went and tried to use a disk I had created to transfer files to another computer. I would not access the disk it say I need some viewer to do this.

Yes linney, found out about when I could not read the cd's.
However I was put off by it, I did not want to have another item just to read these cd's. I wanted every computer to just read them without something addition. This is why I decide that a straight burning program was better for me. Yes a little more work but I knew that I could take that cd and put it into any machine and the system would recognize it.

But thanks anyway.
