Hey, i have a db which uses a selection from a combo box to bring up a new form.A user then makes a selection from a listbox and presses a button to bring up another form. The results on this form are primarily stored (returned using a query), but the user must be able to edit some of the textboxes and save these changes down. However, i thought having the control source and making the textbox editable would (unlock) would do the trick. HOwever this doesn't appear to be the case.I have tried from a save command button to set the values in the table with those of the values on the form. BUt not working. I am sure this is a very frequent problem raised. Could you possibly help. Much appreciated.

thanks both for replying to me.

Re: Bound textbox. Doesn't this mean to place a control source behind it.I thought it was but could be all over the place. I did that but haven't got the update sorted.

Re: updateable query. Would there be a simple macro i could run which would do this for me.Setvalue etc or something.

Updatable query is not a value that can be set, it is the way you setup the query.

great. How do i set up the query that it is updateable please? I am working off a db which was set up by someone who has left my dept and as a result i am trying to rejig it without full well knowing what i am doing. But if i get this editable textbox updating the table/query i am sorted. Surely this is a fairly mundane task because people must use querys to access forms all the time and then of course updating them. Does anyone know how to precisely rejig this query. Would help me so much.Cheers

In the link I gave you it describes what the requirements are for an updatable query. Also the helpfunction of Access gives you the requirements. You have to read this through...

To immediately tell if a forms [blue]RecordSource[/blue] is updateable, have a look at the [blue]Add New[/blue] navigation control button
AddNewEnabled.BMP
. If it has that disabled look
AddNewDisabled.BMP
the returned recordset is not updateable!

Are you finding this to be so?
