Form Design Change Prompt

I have a form that is used to make Purchase Requisition Requests. The Request can be Authorised and, once this is done, the requst is locked. This all works well however there is a symptom that I am not sure I have diagnosed properly. Even if I am right as to the cause, I am not sure how to fix it.
When I exit the Purchase Requisition form, I intermittantly get the Access message...

'<formWhatever>' has been changed by another user or because another instance of it was opened on your own machine....

It goes on to prompt me to save the drop the other user's changes of save mine under another name.

Now I assume that this message should only come if there have been changes made to the form (in design view). However I get this when I know that no such changes have been made. The only possible cause is that I set some of the controls to 'Locked' or 'Unlocked" depending on if the record has been approved or not.

Question 1 - Is the cause of the message that two users have the form open and one has it with controls locked and the other with controls unlocked?

Question 2 - Is it possible to trap the Access message?

Question 3 - Is there a better way to lock the approved records so that I don't get this message?

Thanks for any insights,

try trapping the error in the From_Error event and find its error number.

Is your database split?

Will try the trap. Don't know why I did not already try this, I guess I thought it was not actually an error.

DB is not split. Contrary to all information I have found, the db seems to perform better unsplit than split. This is true in 97 version and XP. One of these days I intend to split it, but there is still vigorous development going on, so that might be premature.
