Help? Running W2K Server in a mixed environment. The company is looking at possibly splitting two entities, one in CA and one in AZ.

The FSMO server resides in CA and I'm AZ. We have one GC server in AZ. If the company splits what if/anything can I do to ensure infrastructure stability post split.

Guess my question is, if our current AD is under the xyz.com domain, what can I do prior to the split so that I don't have to reinstall the OS on all the AZ servers to make them belong to so some other domain name like abc.com?

Found solution. First step was to transfer all of the fsmo roles to a DC in AZ. Then made secondary DNS server (AZ) the primary, which was in CA. Believe this will satisfy all AD issues when the physical disconnect occurs. Here's hoping anyway.

Stand up a new DC, abc.com or whatever in AZ. Use ADMT to migrate the AZ accounts to the new domain.
