Hi,

i need to put a group of switches into a vlan group. the first two switches are talking to each other happily and passing vlan info between each other.

i've put the third and forth switch into the same Vlan domain and confirmed that they are correctly trunking using ISL and are in that regard happy.

i have set switches 3 and 4 to be the same setup as the other two. vtp server version 2.

is there a way of forcing an vtp update.

I did notice that after playing and acidently kill switch two i had to reboot it and when it came back up it had all the information. rebooting switches is a very bad thing for me unless i really have to.

If anyone has any ideas i would be gratefull,

Thanks,

usually to fix this, you need to go in and cause a chance in the vtp information..

add a vlan, change a vlan name, enable/disable a vlan

something that'll cause a change, and it should get replicated..

Unfortunatly that didn't work :<

they only thing i've noticed is that there is no password for the vtp domain and speaking to the person who originally set it up they didn't use a password. is this a problem,

the switches are a mixture of 3524 and 3550.

any Ideas??

Sorted,

Despite what my boss had told me there was a password set up for the vtp domain and it wasn't blank as he had told me.

and strangely enough entered it changed some vlan info as sugested above and hay presto it worked.

Bosses!!! what would we do with out them :>
