Hi. Wondering if anyone knows how to make Word (2000 and/or XP) always open in Normal view instead of Print Layout view (regardless of view setting when Word was last closed). Probably requires some code. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Usually finding and deleting the normal.dot template [with Word closed] will accomplish it. It will be recreated the next time Word opens, might take twice.

Hi dddivers,

This has been discussed here before and I don't think it can be done.

AutoExec code runs before there is a document window to apply the view to, and Autonew doesn't fire when you start Word with a (default) new document. You can do it in AutoOpen code if you start Word with an existing document if that helps.

Please, somebody, prove me wrong because this strikes me as very odd behaviour.

Enjoy,
Tony
