Hi everyone - Well, it's time to replace my old home PC.

This will be my only system at home. Will run Windows 2000 Pro
and office apps, SQL Server database, possibly serve as a web server for my web site.

With those uses in mind...what are the advantages of having a workstation (IBM IntelliStation) versus a desktop (IBM NetVista) ?

I know you can have more than 1 monitor with a Workstation,
and I realize that I will pay more to get a workstation.

The system I will get will be a P-1.5 GHz, 256 RDRAM

In what ways would a workstation be better... or worse... as a home system?

Thanks for your opinions. John

If you're getting 1.5 GHz and 256RDRAM it probably doesn't matter either way. The only things I would consider would be the SQL Server database and the use as a web server as either can possibly tax your I/O. If you're going to use those two a lot, maybe a workstation might be better? Just my opinion =)

I feel that workstations have been designed to handle heavy loads, desktops aren't designed for that.
