I've been to a ton of forums and just wanted to thank everyone here for all the info.
My windows xp home pc was suddenly not connecting to the internet. I had tried everything:
System Restore
Winsock repair
Tcp/ip repair
static IP
safe mode
Finally, I read one person's suggestion to power down everything and UNPLUG from the wall. In my case, it was unplug the surge protector. I waited 2 minutes. Turned THAT back on and reset it.
Then I reset every button I could find on the power supplies.
Then I powered on the DSL modem.
Then, the dsl router. (linksys)
Last, I turned on my pc and voila. I had an internet connection again.
Hope this helps someone else.
