I have been unable to correct the problems from my previous thread, but do have more info that may be pertinent. I find that my daughter first noticed the problem shortly after connecting to the MyNapster music sharing web site. I've always feared these sites to be a haven for viruses, but my updated Norton hasn't found anything. Could it be missing an infection? My machine won't accept downloads of Spybot or Adaware. Could soemthing out there be that smart? Any suggestions?

What do you mean won't accept...? The install I sent over won't install? If the SpyBot install has failed, are you getting an error message?
To answer your question, yes, file swap services can be rife, to greater or lesser degrees, with viruses.
