If your server is in a domain and your share permissions using domain accounts, you can change the permissions to use that of local machine accounts. But that's not advisable as the passwords will have to be set to not expire etc.
how about using IIS with read write permissions, you could set this up to promt for a password, then remove any normal share settings for the folder
