Old habits die hard. I've always used home directories. New 2003 server install, migrating old data. Considering using Folder Redirection to redirect client My Documents folders to home folders but I have read that Microsoft recommends letting the folders be auto-created from a designated root-share and eliminating the use of home directories. Any suggestions? Also I have no use for offline access so do I need the synchronization or can I eliminate it with no problem? Lastly, Which works better, setting the redirection in roaming profiles or in GPO?
Thanks for any insight

I think it is easiest and best to do folder redirection with a GPO. Seems to work consistantly for me. Using offline folders is totally a matter of preference. On the one side it slows down login and logoff, on the other you have a save copy of needed data if a server becomes offline.

I think that for Notebook users it is essential.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Mark

Mark - Thanks. I've set it up this way and it looks like the best way to go
