I have my remote and local user's My Docs and Desktop redirected to a 2003 Server via GPO.

What would be the best way to have users be able to access items in the My Docs folder and on their Desktops if the link to the server would go down? Would offline files and synchronization be required?

Yes, and you answered your question. Offline files are the simple and easy answer, just have to make sure your workstations have a little hard drive space and your in business!

Your other option would be to set up DFS and link the redirected folders into the DFS share and replicate the data.

Another way would be to set up DoubleTake or some other server replication technology, so that a standby server would take the identity of the original server in case of a failure.

Right now, everyone's My Docs and Desktop are being redirected to a UserDocs$ share on a File server. What would be the best way to setup DFS?
