Could somebody please list the advantages and disadvantages between folder redirection and home folders(that are backed up on a daily basis)? The users on the network I am managing are savvy enough to know the difference, and I was wondering if just using mapped home folders(that are backed up daily, and permissions set)would accomplish the same goals.... thnx in advance, excellent site...

We use both and we use them hand in hand. We created a home folder for all users and specify the path to the home folders in AD Users and Computers. Then we have a group policy which redirects all user's "My Documents" to the home folder. If the security on the Group Policy is setup correctly, they won't be able to change their My Documents back to a local drive. The advantage is as you pointed out, a central location for their documents that can be backed up and managed. Hope that is helpful.
