Folder Redirection Issue

I have created a GPO to redirect an OU's My Documents folder to their home directory. The redirect does not work and the following events are written to the application log:

Event Category: None

Description:
Failed to perform redirection of folder My Documents. The full source path was C:\Documents and Settings\user.DOMAIN\My Documents. The full destination path was \\%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%. At least one of the shares on which these paths lie is currently offline.

I have looked at the suggestions on

http://www.eventid.net

and no help there.

wouldn't have been the lacking \ in the destination path would it?

Nope. It was the \\%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%. It should have been changed to \\server\home\%username%. Thanks.

just a tip:

when setting up folder redirections,
if you are redirecting only the "My Documents" folder,
there is no problem in using the UNC path tha you specified:

\\servername\sharedfolder\%username%

However,
if you are also setting redirection for "desktop" , "application data"
and "start menu" folders along with the "My Documents" folder,
the UNC path should read:

\\servername\sharedfolder\%username%\Application Data
\\servername\sharedfolder\%username%\Desktop
\\servername\sharedfolder\%username%\My Documents
\\servername\sharedfolder\%username%\Start Menu

I'm just letting you know, because none of the microsoft books does.

In short, if you use the UNC path \\servername\sharedfolder\%username%
what happens is that out of the 4 folder redirections, the one that
takes precedence is the "desktop" folder, hence, you end up with the
"Application Data" , "Start Menu" & "My Documents" folders ON your desktop.

I know it sounds confusing, but you can try it yuorself,
create a OU and throw some users inside, and enforce the
redirection for all the folders
