I have been tasked with placing a video clip eleven minutes in length online. I have the FLV playing as an external progressive download. I took from reading Macromedia's documentation that progressive downloads are best for lengthy video.
Flash Player 7 introduced progressive download, a technique where external FLV files are cached on the user's local hard drive and played through the host SWF at runtime with no limitation to the file's size or duration. Audio and video stays in sync and the frame rate is completely independent from that of the movie host...For lengthy audio/video content that requires fairly straightforward delivery, external progressive FLVs can be a good choice.
However, the audio and video in my SWF are out of sync. Am I misunderstanding the above quote or possibly doing something wrong? I am using the mediaDisplay & mediaController components.
You can see the video here: I noticed that Macromedia states
The biggest limitations to embedded video are movies having a maximum of 16,000 frames and audio sync cannot be maintained beyond about two minutes.
Does this apply to progressive FLVs as well? Should I tell the powers-that-be that the video should be under two minutes in length?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I struggled with this very issue all last week on a project intended for CD rom.

My video was just under 8 min in length and the synch issues were noticeable near the end.

Its a shame its still an issue, and I couldnt find a solution (I thought about splitting the source video (mpeg) in two and creating TWO .flv files then automatically (via actionscript) starting the 2nd one when the first one ended, but couldnt figure out a way to do it and had to finish the project.

Hopefully my client doesnt give me too much grief over it, if she does, I'll be using Director to put together a user interface that plays the MPEG or .MOV file from cd rom.
