Floppy Drive Problem Locking up the PC

Hey people


This is a good one, I have a IBM 300pl pc here and everytime you try to install new hardware it gets to the bit where it is looling at A: and locks up ? I have changed floppy drives and totally diconected it .... btw it is win98, is there any patches or anything out to resolve this problem?
