Floating Box Displaying Wrong in Safari on Mac

I am making a page in GL with a graphic in the area where text goes above the graphic. Using the graphic as a BG image is not appropriate. So I made a floating box for the text. The Box size is set to a percent so it stretches to fit the browser size. It displays fine in IE on mac and PC, but Safari on Mac causes the text to run off to the right of the page. Is there a work around for this?
