I just got a 2gig flashdrive for the 1st time and I can't find the driver when I went thru plug n play install w/win98 install CD. Anyone know where I could find some?

Windows 98, unlike Windows XP, have no universal driver for flashdrives. Look inside drive, some flashdrives have Win98 drivers stored on it along with some useful utilities. If not, search on manufacturer's site. Typically there is download address somwhere in documentation or written on the package.

When you say you went through a "[blue]plug n play install w/win98 install CD[/blue]", does that mean you used a CD that came with the flash drive?

If one didn't come with it, like Karlis said, the manufacturer's website should have drivers you can download to work with older Operating Systems like Win98. Typically, flash drives and other USB devices have "firmware" built in that allows Windows to pull the driver information from the device. However, newer devices just don't bother to work backwards with Win98 out of the box anymore. That's why you have to go searching on the CD or out on the website.

Good luck!

Nothing to do with your query

Be interesting to see what happens to flash drives when they go over 64Gb. At the moment, all flashdrives are formatted in Win98 format which is OK up to 64Gb. Maybe it will appear as 2 disks.

First off what brand is it & model?

xwb,
I'm curious. What 64MB limit are you talking about when it comes to Win98? Are you referring to FAT32? I don't think you are, because FAT32 doesn't have a low limit like that.

Keep in mind that the file system (FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, etc) has nothing to do with the operating system. So in other words, FAT32 will work the same way under Windows 98, ME, 2000, etc...
