Flash Player help needed

Recently, I find myself getting an error message saying: "Can't find Flash Player". A techie I know took my browser to a site that uses Flash Player and it worked fine. But he didn't resolve the problem of this error message continuing to pop up. I've deleted the program and reinstalled the latest version: 9.0.47.0 and am using Firefox 2.0.0.6. Can anyone help rid me of this nuisance? Thanks.

What is the "exact" error message?

Did you delete the player or uninstall it?

Do you have .swf files associated with a program such as your browser?

The exact message is "Could not find Macromedia Flash"

I used the uninstall program just now, then reinstalled. I'm not sure whether this fixed it.

I'm afraid I can't answer the question about .swf files and my browser. Beyond my technical pay grade. Sorry.

an older version of Macromedia Flash and the current Adobe Flash Player may both have to be on your machine?
