I've been attempting to use flash to create a simple .swf that serves as a background sound loop for a web page. The problem is that when I set the sound file to loop, an annoying skip is heard as the sound repeats. This occurs for mp3 and wav loop files and doesn't seem to be a problem that is flash-only (Frontpage wants to do the same thing with background loops). I've tried different sound card drivers and I've tried editing the sound files themselves to align the start and finish. I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions?

Have you set the sound's Sync to "event", laid it only on 1 frame of the timeline and set the loops to 999?

Precompressed MP3 files are not suited for looping in Flash due to the nature of their compression. They tend to add a small space either at the beginning or end of the track hence the 'skip' you refer to.
The only way to reliably loop sound in Flash is to import the original uncompressed file and then use Flash's own compression process.
Alternatively, you could try and create a sample repeating you desired loop 4-5 times and then stream the mp3 instead of trying to loop it directly in Flash.
This would also be a more advisable way of doing this in terms of keeping download times to a minimum.

Remember to down the sample rate of your track before importing to retain audio quality..
Hope this was of help,

Ty for that. I tried it with a full wav version of the loops and it worked out. Flash compression is actually better than I thought it would be.
