I have a coustomer with an 8x24 DR5.1 with a flash 4 ver2.0 Last week they lost everything on the flash(not the KSU), the flash had defaulted, just like it had never been installed! They said that the power had been down for about 30 seconds.
I removed the flash and did extensive tests on it, initalize it then built mailboxes, shut the power down for extended periods (12 hours) several times. I could not get the flash to fail.
A mystery to me. Has anyone run into this problem before??

Power outages have been know to do that on a Flash. Invest in some kind of surge protector or UPS to avoid that from happening in the future.

I agree with galfaro, they seem to be somewhat prone to power flux. Seems worse if power is up-down, up-down, up-down during a bootup. IMHO

Thanks for your replies,
so you don't think there could be an underlying problem, like a memory cap. It's just a glich with the flash and probably won't happen again? I now have the flash on the battery back-up.

There was a bad batch with the capacitors not able to take the power outs very well especialy brownouts, none of the flashes realy liked brownouts how ever that batch was more sensative to them.

I have had this happen. After we re-installed it, we put it on a small UPS. Not a problem since, been about 2 years now. I had one or two lockup for some strange reason. Thought it was the power glitch problem, turned out it just need a kick in the power cord to reboot :)
