Flagging a message to the user when using a No that is under warrenty

Do does anyone know the code for this, for example if the number 12345 was in put in to a field it should notify the user with a message that the number is under a 12 month warrenty, this should only happen if the number has been used in last 12 months. there is also a date field in the same table which is the start date for the warrenty, so is there a code or a formula i can use that can do this or can it be done in a query.
