Hi,
I have a BENQ 24x10x40 CDRW (on an AMD Duron 1000, 20Giga hard disk, 128MB ram) and lately a have an annoying problem. When I try to write CD's it sometimes failes, telling me 'could not fixate'. When I look at 'medium info', it says the disc is empty, so I should be able to use it. But alas, that doesn't work.
I've experienced the same problem in both Nero 5.5 (running Windows 98) and GnomeToaster (running Mandrake Linux 8.2).
Can anybody give me some hints? Is it because of the quality of the CD's (had it with several brands, most of all TraxData and SilverCircle, but also once with Sony). I also tried burning at severals speeds from 12x to 24x.
