I need a fix for the last update function - lupdate() in Clipper 5.2e. I use it a lot to determine the date of the last update to a DBF file. It is giving me bad information. I have a file that was last updated on November 12, 2002 but the lupdate() function on that file returns 11/08/02. I know that I saw something shortly after 2000 that there was a problem with this function.

I looked at the fix but I am reluctant to modify the original lib file for clipper. I will try using the function and name it to some other function and just link it in with my applications and call the new function whereever I need to. Thanks.

I was a little reluctant to mess with the library file as well. As long as you have a safe back up of the file, you can always recover. Just follow the step carefully and the fix is real easy.
You also have to realize that Clipper calls LUPDATE() on it's own when creating/modifying databse files. So when you link in the corrected function separately, you calls to it would give the correct response but Clipper is still using the flawed function.

Wow! That means I must fix the lib file then. That explains why once I touch a file with Clipper I can no longer open it in dBase III. Modifying the lib file should fix this problem as well.

Thanks for the help. I will download those instructions and give it a try. Hopefully I have all the other stuff that is needed.

If I send you my clipper.lib file would you fix it for me?
I don't think I have all the programs needed to patch the file.

Thanks,

Frank

Just post your e-mail and I'll send you my corrected LIB.
