Hey all,

I thought I'd start small and basic and that I'd work it out...the latter is not the case and I need your help!

I want to create a basic animation with text fading in and out at different times and that's pretty much it but I've fell at the first hurdle!

I typed my text in black on the first keyframe and then on the same frame set the Alpha value to 0% making it completely transparent. 3 seconds later (44 frames) I have the same text but with Alpha see to 100%. Then apply motion tween.

The result is that for 43 frames, there is nothing displayed and in the final frame, it flashes on screen (black 100%).

Why isn't it fading in from the second frame to the final frame?

=========================================================
The final animation will be like this:
1) Logo fades in over 3 secs
2) First buzz words fade in over 1 sec
3) Second buzz words fade in over 1 sec
4) Logo and buzz words fade out over 3 secs
5) Blank screen for 1 sec
6) Strap line appears and remains unchanged for 2 secs
7) Glow fades in behind text over 2 secs (gradient blur)

So I'm guessing that if you can show me how to get my fades going on, I won't have to many issues (I hope)

Have you converted the text to a symbol?
Try removing all your frames make some new text, convert that to a graphic symbol by selecting it and hitting F8, then create your new frame at 44, set the alphas and create the motion tween.
Flash uses symbols to interact between the timeline and the stage. Although in recent releases i think there's more options for animating objects.
However, it is always good practice to convert all items to symbols within your library.

Hope this helps

cheers for the suggestion, I did convert the text to a symbol but not sure if I did it right. I'll give it another go!

ah i see what I was doin...after i converted the text to a symbol I was still trying to adjust the colour/alpha the same way as I did with the text, doh!

all sorted now thanks
