I am trying to upgrade firmware on a 1608. I am using the Apache server function of Xampp as the http server on my laptop. We are hard coding the set with an IP address, etc. and put in the IP address of my laptop as the file server address. Every time the phone boots, it does not look at the http server but the file server setting reverts to all zeroes. Any ideas?

Thanks.

populate the other details including, call server, router with your laptop ip, I have found that if you do not populate all fields the phones sometimes throw a wobbly.

Thanks for the replies.

Montyzummer, I did have all of the fields populated but the router, subnet mask and file server would keep reverting to 0.0.0.0. It did retain the set IP, etc.

Phoneguy55, this environment does not have a DHCP server so it must be hard coded. It's a very small site with minimal (almost none) IT support.

BTW, I did get it to upgrade. I was initially trying to use XAMPP on my laptop as the temporary HTML server. That is when it kept failing. When I brought the phone to our lab and hardcoded our CM as the file server, it found the update file right away and did its thing. I guess the new issue created is how do you set up a temporary HTML server on a customer network to do 96xx firmware upgrades? Why did XAMPP not work? Is there a free HTML server program out there that does work and are there any pointers on how to set it up?

Thanks.

I forgot about that one. I used to use it for TFTP type sets like 4600 series.

Thanks!
