hi,
every so often fireworks will just completely freeze my pc and i cannot even ctrl-alt-delete. I had this problem sometimes with photoshop 5.5 but it has been getting worse. It usually happens when i am opening a file or changing something in the file which is starting to get really annoying...any suggestions?

haven't seen ct_roy around but for future reference and for anyone who would like to know... this is generally a RAM problem.... i.e. not enough.

these graphics programs require a ton of processor memory and that is something that cannot be eliminated , however, there is something that can help a little.

Fireworks has this nifty history memory that remembers up to 300 steps. this takes an enormous amount of processor memory. In preferences (under the edit menu if I remember correctly) this can be reduced to whatever you would like. My recommendation would be do drop it to about 50 or less if you are having RAM memory problems.

Obviously the best solution would be to ramp up the RAM to at least 256MB but we can't all do that now can we!!?? Ya' Gotta Love It!
