I have a video camera that has firewire on it. I'm able to import my video's perfectly but my wife wants to use it as a webcam to talk to her family over seas. When we try it we get no video signal (and yes, the camera is on). Is there something we're missing?

See if there is on the camera itself a USB option switch. Some offer the ability to switch between "Modes": linear, Hybrid or Transfer.

The choices are to use it essentially as a WebCam, a single photo camera, or a short Hybrid video mode.

It doesn't have USB to it I don't think, just Firewire. I have other modes on the camera but it just shows up blank in the web cam. I've tried Yahoo, MSN and a few others and it doesn't work. But pennacle or movie maker works great. So just web cam it doesn't work.
