My Internet connection is timing out starting 9:30am everyday
and only gets resolved if i reboot the Firebox.
Users could not surf any website during the outage.
I'm wondering what are possible causes for this downtime on the firewall level?
If your network traffic is high, then you may be running out of memory. When the firebox runs out of memory due to high traffic volume it stops routing traffic and requires a reboot.
You can check your load by looking on the status report page for load section.
If this is the problem then you can upgrade the ram with standard laptop SDRAM memory. Check with watchgaurd if you still under warranty because you can void your warranty by taking the box apart.
after probing the traffic thru the service watch, I noticed that the SMTP traffic is above 50% in the mornings (9am-11am)....and causes web surfing to freeze. After I reboot the Firebox. things get normal throughout the day.
