Hi Guys, just a few questions that i hope some one can help me with, first of all how can i tell if my Firebox is configured in DRopin or Routed mode, and secondly what is the main diference between the 2.
bottom line. routed mode uses NAT and and drop in does not. routed mode is most typically used
The requirements for a routed configuration are:
All interfaces of the Firebox must be on different logical networks. The minimum configuration includes the external and trusted interfaces. You can also configure one or more optional interfaces.
All devices behind the trusted and optional interfaces must have an IP address from that network. For example, a computer on the trusted interface in the figure could have an IP address of 10.10.10.200 but not 192.168.10.200 which is on the optional interface.
drop in
With a drop-in configuration, the Firebox uses the same network for all of its interfaces. You must configure all of the interfaces. When you install the Firebox between the router and the LAN, it is not necessary to change the configuration of the local computers. The public servers behind the Firebox continue to use public IP addresses. The Firebox does not use network address translation to route traffic from the external to your public servers.
Wussup people. My problem is the firebox setup wizard. The first screen ask me for the ip address. Do i give it its own or the computers ip? Next ask for external ip's, the firebox ip and the default gateway. Last is the trusted ip.
Now bellsouth issued my company new ip addresses and ranges. All the ip's were replaced with the new ones. With the new ip's i dont know where to begin. When i tried to eneter information for the trusted, an error appeared stating my ips overlapped.
