Hi Guys!!

I want to develop an small application that uses a FingerPrint scanner to log time entries. For example when a worker comes in to work he scans his thumb to make an time entry into the database. What do I need? Can I use the scanner to do this or is there some other software that I need to develop this thing.

This basic program is just taking the fingerprint and match it with the person in the database.

I would assume that there is some sort of SDK available for the finger print scanner. I would advise you to contact the manufacturer to see if what you want is possible. I have looked into using them in the past (it never came to fruition) and I found that not all of the scanners will interface with your program. Verify this with the manufacturer.... there should be some documentation...

Where can I get a free SDK that I can use to develop on? Do not want to pay for something/licence than might not be implemented.

Have you (as per bjd4jc's suggestion) spoken to the manufacturer of the scanner about this?

Yip.....there is a trial but it is only for 2 weeks max.

Have you actually spoken with the manufacturer? If you call and talk to the sales department and explain your situation and what you want to do, they will extend your trial period a little longer. What are you expecting out of a trial? I hope you're not expecting to fully develop your application on a trial version and then decide wheter or not you want the software... In most instances, you should be able to decided if the SDK is going to do what you want it to do...

>>Where can I get a free SDK that I can use to develop on

There is no "standard" SDK for these things. They are very specific to each manufacturer (and sometimes each model).

If you're asking for someone to provide an illegal copy for you than this is not the forum to be looking in... we just don't do that here.

Nope....do not want an illegal copy because that is a bit STUPID! Have spoken to an manufacturer and they are a helping me currently.

THANKS for the help!
