Finally Upgrading!

Hi all,
We are finally upgrading our G3 to r12 from r6?! (Along with a bunch of software upgrades for centervue, cms etc).

can anyone give any advice or perhaps make any recommendations for me to know what is expected etc.?

The last time I took an admin class it was for rel 8.

I am pretty sure the company would pay for it if they see that it is necessary.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Not many changes in CMS. Make sure you purchase CentreVu "Report Designer". This will allow you to create your own reports within CentreVu.

(Regarding PBX Upgrade)
In my experience you will only get 1 - new flashcard for your new system so if you're making multiple backups you'll need to buy another card because your old 4 or 8 mg card won't work with the new processor.

The ARS/AAR tables change completely so you'll need to be familiar with those.

You may be on a promotion to get IP Medpro or CLAN cards and if you're implementing VoIP you should get the Avaya testing done ahead of time, I think it costs $1200 and it's well worth it.

Also the vendor should be providing you a copy of the latest version of ASA, I think it's free.

Before the night of the cut make sure you have all of your announcments saved in advance sometimes those take a long time to save + save translations on more than one card as a precaution if you have a spare flashcard and sometimes the vendor will carry one with them.

When I've done my PBX upgrades they plan for hours of downtime but the actual downtime is minutes only and they've been very smooth & no problems.
