I am pretty new to firewall administration. I "inherited" the job. We are running a Symantec 200R firewall. I've noticed that there are only 5 access filters per group. Is there any way to add to that, or am I stuck with that number?

I am also having issues with the special applications. We are using hosted email (very small company) and instead of using the access filters, I would like to use the Special Applications to allow coomunication between the Exchange servers and our Outlook clients. However, if I don't have it opened up throught the filters we get nothing. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I have Raptor Firewall 6.5 for Windows NT.

How do I block port 81 inbound and outbound to get rid of the new virus? Does a deny-rule win over a allow-rule if the protocol exists in both rules?

Thanks in advance.

The best way to block port 81 is to setup an interface filter. This interface filter can be on both inside or out side. In our case I would set a External Input Interface filter for port 81.

Check out the following KB for more info on setting this up.

remember by default the SEF will deny all traffic, so unless you have created a rule to allow port 81 you are not going to pass the traffic.

tips on fixing any problem in the world
1. Check google / google-groups
2. check the vendor support page
3. get a book on the topic
