filtering broadcasts

I have a problem with a internet-connection. The router opens the connection even nobody is working. I think the problem is because of the broadcasts the server sends from time to time.

Which ip-addresses do I have to filter?

Normally a router will not send broadcasts unless it's been specificly told to since routing broadcasts defeats one of the primary purposes of a router. Without knowing much else about your network, my first step would be to capture a trace( sniff) of the segment attached to the router and see what is on the wire at the time its opens the connection. I can think of a good many things that might trip it depending on how the router is configured.

If it's a directed broadcast or a real IP packet being sent by the server, you could setup some access lists either on type of packet, IP address, time and so on.
