Filter Spam by Subject Line 1

I have Small Business Exchange SRVR 2003 and I am wondering if I can filter spam email strictly by subject line? Any thoughts?

The best advice I can give you is to use the IMF.(intelligent message filter)

Works very well and I have it running on numerour SBS clients servers.

Mark, you read my mind. I downloaded IMF but not sure how to configure it to remove/delete a particular subject line before hitting our exchange server. Any idea how I would set that up?

That is not how it works, it is much smarter than that.

Run the install. Then right click Message Delivery. There will be a new tab for IMF. I suggest values of 5, Archive, 5.

Run: Net Stop MSExchangeIS & Net Start MSExchangeIS

When the first SPAM hits your server a new folder will be created under Mailroot\VS1 called UCEArchive. That is where the SPAM will get quarantined.

If you are confortable with what is being caught you can set IMF to delete instad of Archive.

There are a few freeware solutions for managing the Archived SPAM. Google and you should find something useful.

Mark, much appreciated. Seems to be working very well. Still looking to find something that would filter emails by subject line instead of creating rules in outlook.

Make sure you have updated your Outlook 2003 Junk Email filters. That should help. A new update was released recently. Get it from OfficeUpdate.Microsoft.com
