Fill Effects in PowerPoint

How can I remove "Fill Effects" from a PowerPoint?

For example, in a .ppt I inherited, under Format>Background>click drop-down, choose Fill Effects, the first tab allows you to set the "Gradient." How do I get it off? There is no "clear" button, or option for 'None.

Just reapply the color white as your background.

I also had to slide the indicator all the way to "light.

It is not necessary to slide the indicator. Format, Background, click on down arrow, click on white in list of colors. Click apply.
