Hello everyone,

Short version: If I remove Windows XP Pro and then install Windows XP Home, will the files on my second harddrive still be accessible?

Long story: I currently have full retail versions of both Windows XP Home and Windows XP Pro. My old PC is running Pro and has 2 harddrives. I just bought a new pc with no OS and would like to put XP Pro on it and then put my XP Home version on my old pc. I've moved all the files I want to keep onto my second harddrive - will they still be accessible after?

Thanks in advance!

If the second hard drive is formatted with NTFS, you will need to take ownership when it's added to the new system. Then, you'll be able to access them. See
It's possible that you'll have an activation issue when you try to re-active xp pro, you might have to phone MS & explain the change over, but it shouldn't be a problem
