Files displaying read only

When one of our users opens a word doc from a network location somethimes they open and sometimes they come up with a message saying they are read only.
The person has all the necessary permissions for these docs though.

If they only sometimes come up with that message, then someone else this document is opened by another user already.

If the message persists, then it's the read/write permisisons for the network folder, not for the document, you have to edit.
