I have been trying to down load a DV tape from my camcorder to my hard drive but about 18 minutes into the download (3.65 Gig)I get and "Have reached file size limit". Is there a setting I can change so I can just download the whole tape at once? The DV tape is an one hour long. I have plenty of harddrive space.

Thanks

Your hard drive needs to be NTFS. Fat or FAT32 will not allow a file size larger than 4gb. NTFS is possible only with Win2k or Windows XP. If you have XP you can convert your drive to NTFS.

If you are using Win95, Win98, Win98SE there is a 4 gig file sixe limit which translates to about 18 minutes of AVI import. Win XP gets over this barrier, but there is no solution or setting for the earlier Win versions. I'm not sure about WinME or 2000, but there is no doubt re the others.

Sorry if this seems overly obvious, but you could always download it as multiple clips. I use Win98SE (don't laugh), so I've had to deal with this issue myself. It does require extra work, but will allow you to get the best result without resorting to drastic measures like changing your OS & having to re-install Premiere. Just choose the right spots for your cuts & it should work fine. If there's any choppiness in the final product you can use quick transitions to cover them up.
