I have a problem that evey time I make a change to any report no matter how small the change is, the size of the database file increases by half a meg. This seems to have started when I copied our company logo from a word doc to a report. Compacting does nothing (Actually it increases the file by 70K).As you could guess the file is getting quite large. Any ideas?

two things you can do.
1. Open the logo in a "good" paint program that will allow you to save it as a .jpg or .gif. Access can handle both. I like Piant Shop Pro (<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> will get the image size down considerably.

2. Open the report where your company Logo is and make the "Picture type" Property a "Linked" instead of "Embedded". That way the image is not part of the database but a separate file. Also if you make a change to the logo in the future the changes will show up everywhere it is linked, instead of you having to open everything and redo it.
If you distibute the app then of course you need to supply the logo and the path to the logo needs to be where the app ends up. like c:\MyApp\Logo.gif
DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.
