I'm using Crystal Reports v10. I installed Enterprise on one of our servers, and I'm logging in to acess my reports. It still allows me to log in and view the report names as usual, but when I try to open any one of them, I get this error.

"File Repository Server error: Failed to communicate with server Input. Server is down or disabled."

Any ideas how to fix this?
Or, for the short run, any other way to get at my reports? I don't want to uninstall Enterprise in case I lose everything.
Help!

Thanks
-Alan

Have you checked to see if the Input Repository Server is running and enabled?

Open up the Crystal Configuration Manager from Start, Programs, Crystal Enterprise 10.
I don't have 10, but I assume it is the same as 8.5 and 9 are.
Make sure that the icon to the left of the Input Repository is green instead of red.
Also, click the Enable/Disable Servers icon at the top on the window.
Make sure that there is a check in the box next to the Input Repository.

If all these are okay, try stopping and restarting the Input Repository service.

Brian - thanks for the quick reply.

I attempted to enable the input repository (which wasn't running), but it said that my key is invalid. I'm still on the 30day trial key, so I went to the registration wizard to enter my new key from the website. However, the wizard pops up a message before it starts saying that it "Cannot get a valid key code". Where do I enter my new key?

Any ideas?

Open the Crystal Management Console from the Launchpad.

In the Management Console in 8.5 and 9, you would go to Manage Authorization. I assume that this is the same for 10.
If you see a keycode in the there already, you need to delete. It is probably expired and you need to remove it.
Type the new keycode in and click the Add button.
As long as the new keycode is valid, it will accept it and you will be able to go back and enable the Input Repository.

It never ends... when I try to open the management console, it doesn't work. It opens in the web browser, and all I get is the Internet Explorer internal server error (this page cannot be displayed).

I hope this isn't as frustrating for you as it is for me!

Can you open the Crystal Configuration (CCM) from Start, Progams, Crystal Enterprise?
Are all the services running and enables from there?

~Brian

Yes, all servers are running in the Configuration Manager, but it won't let me enable anything because of the key.

-Alan

You should still be able to access the Crystal Management Console to enter in another key. You should be attempting to do this using the Administrator account in CE.

In the CMC, I would stop all the services, then restart them again.
After that try entering the Crystal Management Console again.
If that doesn't work, you may need to restart IIS by opening the Services under Administrative tools.
