I am looking for an application that will email a user when a file has been modified. As an example, User A creates spreadsheets and puts them on a public folder on a shared drive that User B needs. User A doesn't want to have to email User B every time a speadsheet has been added but wants User B to be automatically emailed by an application that a spreadsheet has been added to the public folder.

We tried , "You've got files" but it was cheap and was a pain to configure, so I am moving on. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

A little knowledge is dangerous.

What else is around beside the one you have tried?

Have a look at Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Audit Policy. This will give you a list of Audit options.

Audit Policy, see the heading in this link "User saves the file document.txt", I don't know whether you can do anything with it, but have a read if you like?

If you can get the event monitor recording, then maybe using something like MOM could pick it up and chuck out and email. It may be a bit to heavyweight for what you need. However it is a good toool, so could be used far more widely than this.

Only the truly stupid believe they know everything.
