I'm not sure if this is the best place for this question. We've run into an unusual situation here.
We have several users running Access 97. The database files are stored on a network drive so they can be accessed by whoever needs them.
Recently, several databases have begun locking up during processing. I have found that the problem is consistently happening during delete queries. The error message is Couldn't update; currently locked. This is happening even when only one person is using the database.
We have been able to get around the problem by copying the database files to the c: drive. When run from c: everything works without problems. But then the files are not available to other users.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before? What would cause the files to lock only when run over the network?
