Hi all...not sure if this is a Win2000 problem, but it may be. My users are getting an error message when they try to retrieve files from their network share folder which says something like "File is open by another user...please try again later" (not exact syntax, but basically that the file cannot be opened because it is in use). These are files that they have JUST created and saved to the folder, and no one else has them opened. Does anyone know if this is a permission problem, or has anyone seen this? The program that they are using is Pagemaker.
Thanks,
dei

What is your network setup??

I had some XP Pro SP1 boxes that were having similar errors when saving and retrieving files off of a 2K Server box.

XP/Pro machines (with SP1 installed) as clients on a Win2K server. Is the problem SP1? Did you find a resolution?
Thanks!

Depends (this may fix your problem)....
Apparently there is a problem with SMB signing in XP and 2K server that may permit group policy to be modified. XP SP1 fixes this problem in XP, but if you don't have the fix applied to the server too, then you will get file sharing errors. If you are in a position where you can't update your server patch, post back and I'll let you know of another way around this problem.
